Texts That I Encounter Everyday.

These are mostly of my own design, and are made to keep me organized.
Staying on Top of Things.

The first thing I do in the morning, right after getting a bowl of Captain Crunch, is to check my calendar and email.  I have a long history of not staying on top of things-- I'm so scatterbrained that I forget to eat sometimes-- and earlier this semester I decided to make a Google calendar.  This works so much better than having a physical agenda, mostly for the fact that I can't forget it somewhere. Also,  I work better when everything's organized.

Taking Notes

There are two out of my five classes this semester where I take notes.  This is mostly because the other classes are more of a "hands-on" approach.  However, when I do takes notes, I make sure that I'm thorough.  I'm not an auditory learner--I'll forget someone's name after five seconds-- but at the same time I don't remember things well if I'm only watching or only writing.  As you can see, although both professors have very different ways of giving their lectures they are both incredibly vague when it comes to visual cues.  I supplement that with my notes, where I more or less type word for word.

Everything Needs a List.

I have a hard time keeping things straight in my head.  I have had a history of forgetting appointments, classes, and even exams when I try to simply remember when something is or what I need to do.  What I have done to help minimize this difficulty is making lists for everything.  Grocery list? check. To Do list? I have a short term and a long term one.  Packing? There's a list. My friend hasn't seen a bunch of important movies? I make a list. Nothing can escape.
